Tara Verhagen is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT-15474 ). She provides a safe, non-judgmental space for individuals, families, and couples to strengthen their relationships with others and themselves. Tara takes a collaborative approach with her clients to understand their experience and guide them toward personal growth, emotional awareness, and healthy relationships.
Tara has experience working with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma history, and survivors of domestic violence. Tara’s passion is working with parents who are experiencing the challenges of parenthood, especially with a child who requires special care. Parents often focus so much on their children that they forget to take time for themselves and the relationship. She enjoys helping couples remember what it is like to feel connected to one another and face the challenges of life as a team. Tara has 10 years experience working with individuals who struggle with mental illness and families who have children that require special care including autism, mental, and physical disabilities.
She received her bachelor’s in Psychology from Seton Hill University in Greensburg, PA. She then attended Arizona State University for her Master’s to pursue working with families and couples. Tara has additional training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), and premarital (PREPARE-ENRICH) counseling.
