About Lisa

I’m Lisa Greenwood, a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT) at Therapy With Heart and an Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) trained therapist. I have a B.S. in Biology from Iowa State University and an M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Seminary. Like the name of our practice suggests, therapy is my heart. My path to getting to this career was winding, and I believe my strengths and background have led me exactly where I am supposed to be.

A main focus of mine is working with couples. You may be an ideal fit to work with me if you have struggles around sex, intimacy, and unhealthy relational patterns—whether it’s communication breakdowns, mismatched desire, feeling disconnected, or negative cycles that seem to repeat over and over. I bring a unique perspective with my background in biology and human development, helping clients understand not just the behaviors and patterns in their relationships, but also how they were shaped to be the person—and partner—they are today. My goal is to help couples uncover underlying emotions, strengthen sexual and emotional connection, and build healthier, more satisfying relationships. I also see teens, families, and individuals of all ages.

In our work together, I take a systems-informed, experiential approach. Some days, therapy might look like sitting on the couch and letting it all out; other days, we’ll get creative, using the whiteboard, imagery, and somatic (body-based) exercises to explore relational patterns and past experiences. I combine warmth, humor, and curiosity with practical tools, helping clients experience new ways of connecting and communicating.

My hope as a therapist is to create a space where you feel seen, heard, and supported as you navigate the challenges in your relationships and life. I know the first step to finding a therapist is challenging, so I’m glad you’re here. When I’m not in the therapy room, you’ll usually find me with my dog, Mabel—hiking, relaxing by the pool, or hanging out listening to new music and catching up on books I’ve been meaning to read!
