About Michael

Michael approaches the therapeutic process as a holistic one that honors you, the client, wherever you are on your journey. He sees people as much more than their thoughts and values the entire nervous system as a capable agent of change. Because of this, Michael may introduce emotional and body-based interventions to help you discover new ways of being in the world, find safety within yourself, and identify underlying emotions that are waiting to be witnessed. No matter who you are or what you’re struggling with, Michael hopes that you feel welcomed just as you are.

Couples and Individual Therapy

Brainspotting

His primary therapeutic framework for working with clients is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). He uses EFT with couples to help them unpack negative interactional cycles, uncover buried longings, and create new opportunities for reconnection. With training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and EFT for individuals, Michael is comfortable adapting the EFT framework to meet the goals of his one-on-one clients.

In addition to his EFT background, Michael has completed over 40+ hours of Brainspotting training. This powerful mind-body therapy taps clients into deeper parts of their brain/body to facilitate the release of painful memories, unprocessed emotions, or fears. Brainspotting can also harness a client’s creativity, improve performance, or locate and expand internal strengths.

In his professional experience, Michael has found that slower is often faster for long-term therapeutic progress. Because of this, Michael also encourages clients to find mindfulness, grounding, or self-soothing practices that can support their well-being inside and outside of the therapy room. Michael respects and embraces his client’s spiritual, faith, or cultural traditions that can enrich their therapy experience or day-to-day lives.
