“My overall goal and intention as the owner of Therapy with Heart is to create a safe space for vulnerability and healing.”

Rachel Thomas, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, has been practicing therapy since 1997. She is a Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist and specializes in working with couples to create healing and connection. She has worked with a wonderfully diverse population experiencing various life stressors such as depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, and personal growth issues.

Rachel is an American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) Approved Supervisor and has provided supervision to many other practicing professionals as they progress forward in obtaining their license.
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, she focuses on relationships and interactions with others. Rachel has the ability to connect to her clients of all ages including young adults, couples at various places in their relationship, and the older adult population.

Rachel specializes in infertility/reproductive care, grief and loss, and couple’s therapy. She also works with other life changing issues such as depression, trauma, and self growth. Rachel is currently the Director of Training for the AzEFT Board and is actively involved in the EFT community. Rachel is an adjunct instructor at Ottawa University and worked as the Professor In Charge of the Marriage and Family Therapy Concentration in the Graduate Counseling Department. Rachel is actively involved in New Song Center for Grieving Children and Hospice of the Valley. She is also a member of RESOLVE, the National Infertility Association, as well as being a member of the AzAMFT Board’s Supervision Committee. She contracts for supervision at various agencies in the Valley.

Rachel has always focused her work with clients on creating a safe space for clients to feel accepted and heard. With this foundation, the process can be healing and open for exploration. Rachel has advanced training as an Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist. EFT allows couples to explore the negative interaction cycle the couple engages in and what feelings and hurts are occurring underneath this cycle so couples can create a new, more vulnerable, connection moving forward.

“My overall goal and intention as the owner of Therapy with Heart is to create a safe space for vulnerability and healing. I am honored to walk this journey with my clients. As your individual or couples therapist, I am able to nurture your strengths and challenge areas of growth. I work with couples to heal injuries, have open and honest conversations, and ultimately to create an even closer emotional bond.” –Rachel Thomas
